Laura Linney's portrayal as vulnerable and yet powerful characters has made her one of today's greatest American actors. Linney was born to an unmarried single mother who worked as a nurse. She became interested with theatre in summers spent with her famous father. She was a student of acting at Brown University, and later in Juilliard School. Within a mere two years after graduation, she launched her Broadway-based career. The following year she made her debut on TV and film. She has appeared on numerous stages, films and television shows since that time. Her achievements have been numerous during her professional career, which included four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Despite her numerous nominations, she has a passion for theatre and has appeared on both screen and stage.
