A baby was strapped to my back, while one crawled inside the playpen. I stayed up all night days for months sanding and stripping wallpaper with one child. Ha! We were getting closer to finishing, but the project was still a distance away. It was going to take lots of time and money as well as my favourite brands of furniture interiors to decorate this place. My sons, my husband and I searched for hidden gems while attending estate sales in order to ensure that my spending was under control. What I saw looked something like... that's the moment my love for restoring furniture began. Although our house was decorated, I was unable to stop. My home became a place where I would host open houses where up to 1,000 people could view the things on the first floor, and then purchase these items. My company Growing Days began here. In addition to my thriving company, I also started our family. The balance between work and family was crucial for me. I wanted to balance being a mother and a successful business owner. Growing Days fit perfectly. It was in 2013 when my sweet daughter Nora was born. She is our fourth baby. Though I was content with the direction my business took, I felt like I had to take an occasional break. I decided to slow down and spend some time at home, spending time with my kids. It was what I wanted. After a while, after that, the phone began to ring. Numerous people reached me for help on home improvement and decorating. It was mostly those who came to my open home to purchase furniture. The time flew by before I managed a large-scale house renovation business. It began with taking clients one by one with a speed I was comfortable with. If you'd told me that my company would become the basis for a DIY Network show, I might have been astonished. It's funny to think back to it.
