Audrey Tautou
Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in France's Puy-de-Domme on August 9 1976 the eldest of four children. Her parents, who have a doctor for teeth and a school teacher helped and encouraged her initial passion for drama and theatre. Her initial dream to be a monkey expert was eclipsed by her wish to pursue a degree in theater and drama. The early success of her career and the rapid rise in fame marked her as a young actor. Before she began to pursue an acting career Tautou took part in Jeunes Premiers an French television show that sought to find talent sponsored by Canal+ in 1998. She also won the title of Best Young Actress in during the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. Tautou was raised in the context of a Catholic home, and was a member of the church, even though she was a student within The Institut Catholique de Paris. Alongside her acting career, Tautou pursued modelling and was the spokesperson of L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. Photography is another passion and she recently exhibited her work at the Arles festival, under the title Superficial. The majority of her photography is focused on celebrity and fame, and then turns her camera to the media who sat on her shoulders after her meteoric rise in fame and fortune as Amelie as well as a series of self-portraits. Audrey Tautou's debut role, as Amelie Poulain's leading actress in Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie poulain, earned the actress international fame. Amelie received international acclai film box office successes and was acclaimed at awards ceremonies across the globe. It is currently the highest-grossing French film of the French language on the market in US. The success of this movie led Tautou to a variety of roles, from British dramas as Dirty Pretty Things by Stephen Knight and Jean Pierre Jeunet to Hollywood's The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
