Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej and is now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born December 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 for an Olympic sport. Bela Karalyi discovered Comaneci when she was six. Comaneci would go on to become the gymnastics coach of Romania. Comaneci participated for the first time at the National junior championships. She finished 13th. After that she took home the title of champion. She took home three golds at her debut competition in a junior pre-Olympic meeting in 1972. It was for communist-controlled countries. In 1973 and 1974, she was the junior all-around champion. When she competed for the first time with a senior team in 1975 she bested the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva the five-time European champion, winning 4 gold medals as well as one silver. In 1976, she won the American Cup at the New York City Olympic Games and became the first woman in history to dismount the parallel bars by using double backwards salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Her career in the entertainment business started in her teens, when she began skating figure alongside her younger twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the touring entertainment show that were known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was born on the 6th September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol first began her acting career in her teens. When she was a child, she began performing as an ice skater with Nina Wayne in the travelling show called Ice Capades. The shows featured theatrical ice-skating performances.
